While he has performed regularly in India, the gulf, Canada and U.S.A, he is well known in social circles of the metropolitan city of Karachi where he has performed in innumerous private musical evenings.

Jawaid adored the great singer Mukesh. During his school and college days he used to tap the table top as a tabla and sing Mukesh’s numbers thereby, entertaining his class mates. He received instant recognition and started getting invitations to perform in musical evenings. Encourged by such appreciation, Jawaid started learning harmonium, he soon became independent and started playing harmonium skillfully. Music was in Jawaid’s family. Shahid Ahmed Dehlvi, a renowned scholar and a prominent classical giant of his era was Jawaid’s uncle. Dehlvi was impressed with his talent and passion for music. He urged his talented student

and disciple, Mirza Hadi Hassan to impart Jawaid Sadiq music lessons to polish his skills. Mirza initially taught him the art of playing tabla and thereafter various raags which helped him in understanding classical music.

Based on this knowledge Jawaid started composing music for his geets and ghazals. Thereafter, came an important decision in his life. He moved to Canada for higher studies. This move proved to be a blessing in disguise both for his academic career as well as for his singing pursuits.

Jawaid remained in Canada for 13 years where he did his B.S in Computer Science and continued his “rayaz” with dedication and passion. Truly his voice matured in Canada. He became a regular in musical evenings and there was hardly a weekend when he was not invited to perform. This encouraged Jawaid towards Ghazal singing, a more challenging attempt. This involved selection of ghazals as well as their compositions.

His one of the most rewarding experience abroad, was the performance in Los Angeles a musical evening organized by L.A Urdu Markaz. He is proud to have received appreciation for his performance from that evening’s guest of honour, Naushad Ali the great composer of the sub continent.
